Micro-nutrients and the Stages of Recovery

This article by the Metabolomic Academy of the EINuM (European Institute of Nutritional Medicine) provides a clear description of what happens to your body when it is deprived of essential micro-nutrients, and of the stages it goes through when it absorbs these micro-nutrients.

PHYSIOLOGICAL FUNCTION:
The body is like a perfect and marvelous mechanism which performs a (normal) physiological function when the conditions are favorable (see the left column in the picture below). Most healthy people are born this way, then something changes, sooner or later in life, and they enter a stage of Biochemical Stress.

BIOCHEMICAL STRESS:
Biochemical stress is caused by nutritional deficiencies which do not allow the body to perform to the best of its ability. To compensate for this deficiency, the body produces a large quantity of stress hormones.

There are moments when, driven by stress hormones like adrenaline, the body can attain high performance, but this is not sustainable and generally leads to exhaustion. The cycle then starts all over again. Think, for example, of when you expend a lot of energy at work, return home exhausted, fall asleep, and have to do the same thing the next day.

People can live this way for months, years or even all their lives and see their health gradually deteriorate over time and chronic illnesses setting in.

A NEW BEGINNING:
With the consumption of suitable food and missing nutrients, the body tries to restore an optimal state of health, resolving the problem of biochemical stress.

Custom supplements allow your body to do just this and to go through several stages. It is important you know about these stages so that you do not stop the process of change and improvement taking place in your body.

STAGE OF IMPROVEMENT:
When you start to correct the nutritional deficiencies that originally caused the physiological unbalance, your body will immediately draw benefit because it recognizes the intake of vital nutrients. As can be seen in the graph, you will experience a feeling of improvement during this stage which can last, on average, anything from one day to a month.

STAGE OF REPAIR:
A stage of decline occurs after initial improvement. It is important you recognize this because you might otherwise think that something is going wrong. Instead, paradoxically, everything is just fine.

The fact that you feel tired is because your body is using the micro-nutrients it is receiving to repair the damage sustained during the period of nutritional deficiency.

During this stage of repair you might experience: a decline in levels of adrenaline and residual stress hormones (cortisol, dopamine), fatigue, a need to rest more, muscular weakness, vasodilatation (hot hands, hemorrhoids, a heavy head, giddiness), increased blood circulation in skin tissue, water retention, hunger and craving for protein required for the rebuilding of tissue, inflammation (pain, itching, eczema, flushing, turgidity, shaking, fever), and constipation (absorption of nutrients). This stage lasts on average from 1 to 3 months.

STAGE OF CONTRACTION:
If you continue to eat correctly and take the supplements, your body will enter the stage of contraction when the liquids retained during the previous stage are expelled with an increase in diuresis.
You might experience mood swings, broken sleep, cramps, arrhythmia, shortness of breath, breathing difficulties, panic attacks, asthma attacks, coughing and sneezing.
At the end of this stage, as can be seen in the graph, the health of the body will have increased considerably with the intake of correct micro-nutrients (since the start of the stage of improvement).
This stage is generally very short and lasts on average from 1 to 3 weeks.

STAGE OF REMODELLING:
As you continue to eat correctly, your body enters the stage of remodeling when it repairs itself further and creates new tissue. The symptoms are similar to those of the stage of repair but are less intense. This stage lasts on average 3 months.

STAGE OF MATURATION:
As long as you continue to eat properly and take the supplements, your body enters the stage of maturation which can potentially be very long (1 or 2 years). During this stage, the body steadily improves to attain a state of optimal health.

It is important that you understand how the body works and the effects you might experience when taking valid and essential micro-nutrients like custom supplements.

In this way, you'll be prepared and able to recognize the various stages your body will go through. There will be highs and lows, and you should now understand why; and by continuing to take in correct micro-nutrients with metabolomic supplements and following a balanced diet, you can be sure to greatly improve your level of health.
